Apple Cider Margarita Cocktail
The perfect seasonal libation, this Apple Cider Margarita might just convince you too that margaritas aren’t only for summer anymore!
There was a time not too long ago, well probably 5 years ago, when I never EVER made a margarita outside of the heat of summer. Something about that combination of fresh citrus and tequila simply screamed warm weather to me and I stuck with that mantra for many years.
Thankfully things change and I’m always experimenting; this time around the result was this delicious Apple Cider Margarita Cocktail.
Don’t get me wrong, I think this Margarita is simply the best ever; hands down, and is still a summer staple but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t found some really, I mean REALLY tasting versions along the way.
No longer subject to just summer, now it’s fun to create something using seasonal produce and today it’s all about the apple. I’m really not trying to hurry summer along; I just had some apples and a gift of ginger syrup and it seemed meant to be; the results say I was right!
Summer means blueberries, blackberries and strawberries, and right now in Colorado it’s actually all about peaches. I ordered twenty pounds of Colorado peaches but they are not quite ripe enough so the apples in my fruit bowl were calling to me instead.
Trust me; heading towards apples does not equate to seeing me starting to scream pumpkin; nope, not quite there yet. But I can’t deny my love for apples and pears and I’ve been in an apple state of mind lately. It’s the perfect star of this Apple Cider Margarita.
With all of the varieties now available, cooking and baking and margarita making is so much more interesting!
I had a bottle of apple cider in the fridge from Martinelli and it was perfect for this margarita. I normally like to either make my own cider or buy unfiltered (much like OJ with pulp, I like it with some body) but I love how this turned out; crystal clear and refreshing with flavors of ginger and cinnamon to boot.
Really an excellent late summer/fall tipple (that word is simply not used enough!).
I used a bottle of ginger syrup I was given as a gift that came from World Market but I’ve also included a recipe in the Notes for making your own. It’s so good; try it on ice cream too.
I’m not ready to go full steam ahead into Fall just yet but this drink really hit the spot this past weekend; it’s another great transitional drink; fall flavors meet classic bracing margarita!

Hi
That looks like a perfect big batch drink for a fall party!
I was wondering if you used apple juice instead of cider because the drink is so clear. The cider around here is opaque and cloudy, Thanks
I used some filtered cider Mary so it was clear. I would actually go with either but I think the taste of cider is so much better than just apple juice so if the drink is a bit cloudier, it will also taste better!
I think its safe to call margarita to be a crowd pleaser. The apple cider margarita looks wonderful. I am looking forward to making this one. Thank you for sharing.
Apple season is just about here, so this is so seasonal. What next, a pumpkin spice margarita? 😀 This looks really look — nice and refreshing. Thanks!
Apples I’m ready for but pumpkin? No sir, not until I can buy a pumpkin on the vine! 🙂
What a gorgeous bevvie! Sounds perfectly autumnal and so crisp. I’ll have to try soon!
It’s not blistering hot here just yet but it’s coming. It was hot down south last week (it’s supposed to be hot up north when you’re down under) but we were pleasantly balmy. I love a good margarita and when I saw apple cider in your margarita my heart started to beat a bit faster. I would really enjoy serving this to friends.
I’m always on the lookout to try new Margaritas- this looks great! I’d also like to see your new Halloween cocktail- perhaps has a ghost peeking out from the brim of the glass?
You’re right, why am I only drinking margaritas in the summer? This combo is fantastic!
Love that you have a mini party in your fridge! Great way to wrap up a Friday 🙂 This cocktail looks great. I love apple and ginger flavors together.
