Sparkling Blood Orange and Pomegranate Punch
Sparkling Blood Orange and Pomegranate Punch is a stellar addition to a holiday gathering. Perfect from Fall through the New Year, it’s easy and delicious.
I wanted to make a cocktail specific for Halloween and my efforts resulted in this Sparkling Blood Orange and Pomegranate Punch; way too pretty and way to perfect for the winter holiday season to relegate it to one cold, dark day in October. Of course you could still make it for Halloween, but don’t forget it after that.
It’s a great addition to your Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years Day festivities; the color is vibrant and beautiful and the flavor a great justaposition of seasonal blood oranges and pomegranates.
This makes enough for a crowd; enough for two cocktails for a party of eight but you can cut it in half if your needs are smaller. I would do the whole batch and have it on hand in the fridge, just hold off on the sparkling wine and pour it per serving.
These were fun and something I need to do more often. I made ice cubes using the sparkling soda so the drink was pretty but also not watered down with ice. I have this cool little mini ice cube tray but regular will work fine too; it’s a great idea to keep the drink cold without diluting the best part. The rum. 🙂
The only hang up is waiting for blood oranges to flood the market; if you can’t find them, certainly substitute another type for the garnish. Cara Cara would be another great choice with it’s pinkier flesh. Truth be told it’s a bit ahead of blood orange season but I can see this gorgeous punch throughout the upcoming holidays; it really is a beautiful color and a great refreshing drink.
I actually used a bit less rum than the recipe calls for when I made it for the group I was serving it to so certainly adjust up or down for your own personal tastes.
Wishing you a safe, warm, and wonderful holiday season!

You are, seriously, an overachiever and I am so glad I do not live near you or else my children would know what a Halloween failure of a mom I am!!! My older children, on the other hand, would be thrilled to know that I will, happily, make them this fabulous Halloween cocktail. The color is gorgeous!
You are too funny and yes, I’ve been called an over achiever my entire life; it’s a curse I tell ya! Truth? I’m glad I stumbled upon my own cocktail; last year was a bit crazed living with other people (by crazed I mean I was miserable) and I had forgotten it! Now I”m making a pitcher and will invite neighbors over to join me for an after party!
Another beautiful looking cocktail Barb! I too don’t consider Halloween a “holiday” but do enjoy the Halloween themed food and drink!
Wow – I love the color of this and bet it’s really delicious, too! Looks perfect for a Halloween treat!
Thanks Amy…we’ve really enjoyed it; even the not so sparkling leftovers!
We don’t really celebrate Halloween, but we do give it tons of candies!!
That’s one pretty punch that I’d love to sip all year long!! So refreshing 🙂
Pinned!
I have some leftover; wishing I could share it with my virtual friends; it goes down very easy. Maybe too easy. 🙂
Halloween never really did it for me. High excitement was going through the kids pillowcases and stealing what I wanted without them noticing. And the parties at school were exhausting. Yes, that’s how I remember Halloween. It was always rush, rush! But they loved it. And so it was worth it. Good drinks like this might have made it more fun for me!
I honestly do not remember how I both handed out candy and took my kids out as a single mom but somehow I did it and was delighted when it was over. 🙂
The only time I get excited about Halloween is when there’s a party. It’s not a big deal in Australia so parties are rare. I could drink this punch any time of the year!
I was invited to a Halloween party a couple of years ago. The best part of that party was the black velvet cape I made for my costume. It’s now my favorite winter coverup!
Perfect timing with this beautiful punch, Barbara, I have loads of blood oranges and a couple of poms in the fridge! Thanks for sharing.
I’m surprised to hear that you don’t like the colour orange. I’m not surprised to hear that you are going to shell out for your friends while they take their daughter out trick or treating. I’m like you as far as fun for Halloween rather than scary. You went to see Carrie!? Like the Exorist, I saw the original when it came out and never, ever again. I can’t even watch commercials of scary movies anymore.
Love the look of this cocktail, perfect for Halloween Barb.
Karen said the first movie was better and I think she meant scarier? I don’t see the reason for those movies and am glad it was only $5. I can say I did and never again! I never saw the Exorcist; I just knew I couldn’t take it. I am a wuss; I have no problem admitting that. Give me a romantic comedy or even a Die Hard any day!
Mmmmm, this would be the perfect reward after a night of passing out candy. Your photos are beautiful and I just love the color of this drink with the black background. Very “Halloweeny”.
Thanks…exactly the look I was going for…as opposed to Halloweenie. 🙂
I am the same way about Halloween– in the take it or leave it category I would definitely LEAVE IT. My younger son likes it so we’ll make it fun but I could really pass on it. Your drink, though, might be just what I share with the adult neighbors as we get together for chili to start the night. Thanks, Barb!
I couldn’t wait to stop the whole nonsense once the girls were gone and then I thought about all those kids and how going by a dark house was sad when mine were little. But I’m OK with not being totally responsible this year…ahh…blessed relief!
Wow this looks so amazing!
Thanks much Lisa; tasted good too!
I’ll bet both your friends will so enjoy taking their daughter out Trick or Treating! Nice of you do do. I’m not big into Halloween either, but I know loads of people who consider it the most important holiday of the year. Weird. For me, that’s Thanksgiving! Anyway, terrific cocktail! I love pomegranate, and actually have pomegranates on my shopping list today, because I’m fresh out of grenadine and need to make some more. Love the flavors you’ve put together – very seasonal appropriate. Thanks.
I second your emotion John; never got it being THAT big of a deal. For me it’s Christmas although this year with my house closing on 12/17 I am already preparing myself for it being very meh. Which makes me very sad. Or sort of sad; getting in makes me happy but it’s clear my normal Christmas won’t be happening! Cheers!
Wow, I love this cocktail. Sounds absolutely delicious. Perfect for Halloween!
Hope it will be; I plan to make a big batch. I might even invite someone over to share. 🙂
