Honey Ginger Fizz Cocktail

As much as I love my fruity red cocktails, I also love the more unique flavors in this Honey Ginger Fizz Cocktail; it’s both sophisticated and delicious. And, well, fizzy too!

Honey Ginger Fizz Cocktail served in tall glasses with a lime slice.

I know it’s really late for me to post but when I missed posting a cocktail on Friday, I promised it would be Saturday. Ooops…I was SO exhausted after a party I hosted in my home Friday evening that I decided to wait until Sunday when a friend would be here visiting and even made that a personal promise to a blogging friend. I was dying to make this Honey Ginger Fizz Cocktail for the first time so my intentions were good.

Hmm, guess what? That did not happen either. My pal Priscilla had just graduated from college after going back after marriage and a daughter who is now 8 and well, she and I were both two slugs…we just wanted to vegetate. So we ate leftovers from the party and chatted. That was nice.

Honey Ginger Fizz Cocktail

I’ve been anxious to make this cocktail for a couple of weeks. I was asked by the good people at Buzz + Bloom if I would like to sample their Orange Blossom Honey in a cocktail and I was game. I’ve had too many cocktails to make and not enough time and I really wanted to try this one; I saw it as a great fit for a cocktail party or to share with appetizers before a holiday meal.

Or be like me. Have one at 3pm in the afternoon while you are typing up a blog post because it was too good to let it get watered down and pitched in the sink. Yes, seriously. Hey people have cocktails for lunch…why can’t I hmm? 🙂

Buzz + Bloom Honey is inspired by the magical, honey-making relationship between the honeybee and the flower. Most honey is overheated, over filtered and over processed, stripping honey of its natural pollens and nutrients. They believe that the purest honey should have natural pollen in it, highlighting the floral essence of the areas surrounding the beehive. That’s why Buzz + Bloom only gently strains its honey, ensuring that it retains its natural pollen and unique taste profile.

Their honey is also packaged at a lower temperature than most supermarket honey to help maintain the beneficial enzymes and antioxidants that help make honey a true superfood. They like to say, ‘Bees already made honey delicious. We’re just making it one of a kind.’

So John, my friend, here it is as promised, the Honey Ginger Fizz Cocktail, finally, and it’s a good one. Hoping you love ginger. This cocktail has freshly grated ginger mixed with bourbon, lime, and honey; then it’s topped off with ginger beer which is really better and more gingery than ginger ale. Try to find it…SO good and makes ginger ale seem almost punk once you’ve moved to the ginger beer side. Not as readily available as ginger ale but I get mine at World Market and some liquor stores now carry it too; trust me, it’s worth finding.

By the way, John is another food and cocktail blogger. He does it just for fun and makes some fantastic dishes; although if we’re honest I think it’s the cocktails that we bonded over. Check out his blog at Kitchen Riffs for more inspiration!

I’ll be back on Friday with a Christmas Eve libation. Or maybe Saturday, or…no, really I’m shooting for Friday; time to get back on track…cheers!

  1. Mmm, honey and ginger! Love that combo! Don’t see it in cocktails too much, but it sounds wonderful. Gotta try this — it looks like a dandy. And thanks for the kind words and link love. 🙂
