Pomegranate and Rosemary Gin Fizz Cocktail
One of my favorites for the holiday season; this Pomegranate and Rosemary Gin Fizz is so crisp and refreshing, not to mention perfectly beautiful!
This Pomegranate and Rosemary Gin Fizz simply screams Christmas. The gorgeous colors are the first cue and perfect for my personal color preferences.
If you know me I’m so not into yellow, orange or the orangish red that is so often used for holiday decor. Color me burgundy or not at all!
I might have mentioned this to a friend when he found out that my birthday is in December; how I think there is nothing worse than a gift of a red ornament that is presented to me for a birthday present.
Which led to the promise of that being exactly what I will get. Aw Sam, you help me bring my tree and boxes of decorations up from the basement and I’m thankful for the thought but that’s plenty, no red ornaments necessary!
But I digress. Yes there is that color but as soon as you lift the cocktail to your lips you are greeted with the scent of rosemary combined with the herbaceous tones of gin wafting from the glass. Is there anything more perfect than combining rosemary with gin?
Maybe there is. For this cocktail I used Nolet’s Silver Gin. This floral and fruit-forward gin expresses the essence of three coveted ingredients: Turkish rose, peach and raspberry
The juniper is not as present as is typical in gin so I thought perfect for a cocktail combining rosemary and pomegranate and it was; the evergreen did not completely take over the finished result.
I hear from so many people when I do a gin cocktail questioning if they can use vodka instead. Poor gin; did something happen in their first gin cocktail experience to turn them away from a really delightful libation?
As I delve further into cocktail making I’m learning too. I’ve been true to one delicious brand for many years but as I’ve been offered new opportunities it is fun to see just how unique each brand is.
All are joined together by the use of juniper but beyond that the other botanicals can make a real difference in the end result.
Combined with the right ingredients it makes a terrific cocktail; it’s not just for gin and tonic anymore!
Still, for this cocktail; it’s that juniper that makes it SO perfect for the holiday. Combined with a rosemary simple syrup, it’s not just that first scent that does it.
The taste clearly has those elements; tempered with some lemon, sugar and a small dose of pomegranate juice for both color and taste; I love the juxtaposition of tart, sweet and juniper.
This cocktail is truly quintessential Christmas. Ask my neighbor Kevin; he has personal experience. I make cocktails for this series at all times of day; often predicated by other parts of my schedule and yesterday it was by the fact that I was without rosemary. REALLY?
While everyone else spent weeks moaning about the change away from Daylight Savings, I’ve missed getting fresh rosemary and basil from my backyard more than I’ve missed daylight!
A never quick run to the grocery store and it was 7:30pm before I was finished with the crafting and photography for this gorgeous Pomegranate and Rosemary Gin Fizz.
With three on hand I hated to just pour them down the drain; after all Nolet’s is a premium gin.
I’ve found some willing friends that live a couple of houses up the street that don’t mind an evening call for a cocktail.
With four kids I know their evening time is precious but I made that call and Kevin was down in his robe within minutes with a pitcher in hand. That’s my boy!
I’ve mentioned before but will probably many times again how much I love the people on my new street.
Sam who came to help me haul up Christmas stuff and invited me to his girls ballet recital this weekend. Rick who will come over at the drop of a hat to help me with something simple since my bum knee and ladders just are not that compatible.
Rick and Casey both came over to help when my outside spigot froze and Casey’s little blowtorch gave me a GREAT idea for Creme Brûlée!
Sounds like Kevin has the best role but you know I just hate wasting good booze! Love them, their wives and their kids. We’re even planning a holiday party at my home and yes, of course these will be served!

This cocktail is AMAZING! I made it by the pitcher-full all throughout December and served it as my signature cocktail at every gathering. It was a huge hit! Once the rosemary simple syrup is made and stashed in the fridge, it couldn’t be easier to throw together. I made it with Nolet’s and Tanqueray and liked it with both, though I didn’t taste the gin as much with the Nolet’s. (This is not a bad thing… Nolet’s just has a less familiar gin flavor.) I can’t stress enough how much I loved this. So beautiful and delicious! Not too sweet and very refreshing. 10 stars!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it Ali, it’s one of my favorites too. It’s perfect; it tastes wonderful and nothing could look prettier for the season could it?
Do you think it would work to pre-batch this drink for a large party? I would like to have it in a beautiful glass drink dispenser and then people can top it with club soda or Prosecco right before drinking. Thoughts? Thank you.
Absolutely. Prepare everything and keep it refrigerated including whatever you’re going to top it off with. That’s exactly what I do when I have a group of people over and serve a cocktail like this.
Very nice recipe, tried it and the tastes were good. Also beautiful photos!
Thank you!
Beautiful drink and how special that you are in your new home this year for Christmas. A far cry from last year’s holiday which was filled with frustration since your home wasn’t ready. I am really so pleased for you that you are loving your new neighbourhood. Your neighbours are the lucky ones!

I like gin and I like pomegranates. AND even if I didn’t, I would make this drink just because it is soooo pretty!
Well then make it and discover what I know to be true…it’s NOT just a pretty face! 🙂
This is so beautiful and incredibly festive! I rarely have a cocktail – maybe because it isn’t very French – but I would love to taste almost all of yours, especially the fruitier ones. This is definitely a Christmas cocktail!
I used to love it; I took a painstaking amount of time doing it too. Now it’s more like ‘What time?’ so these fit my current schedule much better and I actually love the cookie more too so definitely a win win right?
This just put a huge grin on my face, it’s gorgeous, I have to share!
Barb, this is the prettiest holiday drink I’ve ever seen! Not only do I love the color, but I love pomegranates and rosemary! Lets get some steaks next week and make these and celebrate your birfday! 🙂 <3
We can do that. Or just some Brussels Sprouts? Hey, thanks for the comment…I feel special already. 🙂
I am a total “gin” girl and you are right, this cocktail is “all” about Christmas!!! Haven’t tried Nolet Silver yet… ah, so many gins, so little time – LOL!!!
Isn’t that the truth: I have about 6 bottles at last count…see I need a gin drinking buddy!
How wonderful to have old friends accumulated throughout a lifetime but in a portable society like ours finding new friends this nice is just fantastic. That said, I’d come over for a pitcher of this gin fizz. 🙂
I have reconnected with some old friends too; as much as I find Facebook a pain in that regard it’s been great. But I feel especially blessed to have landed on this street; we all know how lucky we are to have connected so well. I have a couple of sweet friends I left behind at my old house but many were older and grumpier and just not very social. This is way more fun!

Love the look of this! For me christmas is all about whites and a little bit of red Maybe, so i can see this cocktail go down perfectly well!
I have all white lights everywhere with silver and a touch of gold and burgundy. I always hate to put it away because I love the sparkle it adds to my home. And yes, this cocktail is picture perfect with my colors! 🙂
Such a pretty presentation! Definitely a cocktail for the holidays.
Rosemary and gin is a nice combo! And the color on this is gorgeous. Bet the flavor is, too. I agree it’s weird how many people react badly to gin. I think at some point they bought one of those big bottles with the white label that said G I N on it in big black letters. And drank way too much of it, with the predictable result. I think it’s the florals in gin that turn them off. Just the aroma of it brings back queasy memories. Vodka is essentially the same thing as gin, although without the florals. So it seems different (and it is different — no real flavor! Who wants that?). Anyway, good post — thanks.
Not that I don’t like vodka; when the cocktail is really featuring a liqueur or some other component it’s a necessity and gin would be all wrong but when it’s the right ‘stuff’ then it’s a great mixer. Yes…I was imagining those same bottles John. 🙂
