Sweet Citrus Fizz Cocktail
This cocktail uses all of the favorite citruses; orange, lemon, and lime. For a simple but sensational drink, this Sweet Citrus Fizz Cocktail is one you need to make!
Spring has sprung right? Not yet? Well we are having spring like days in Denver and the truth is the first day of spring can easily mean blizzard like conditions in Colorado. I thought this Sweet Citrus Fizz Cocktail would be a great cocktail to bridge the seasons.
At least if it does snow in Colorado, Spring means it will be short lived, the sun will come out in the afternoon and all of the snow will have disappeared by the next day. Whoo Hoo!!
Filled with the bounty of winter citrus combined with a lightness that is perfect for warmer weather, this Sweet Citrus Fizz Cocktail seemed the perfect prelude to herald Spring in Denver.
The recipe is from a charming little book I have in my cookbook library, ‘Cocktails for the Four Seasons’ by Jenny Park and Teri Lyn Fisher; the duo behind the popular blog ‘Spoon Fork Bacon.’
A small guide to cocktails using seasonal ingredients, it has a nice blend of classic cocktails with a twist as well as some of their own original creations like this Sweet Citrus Fizz Cocktail.
Everything is arranged by season and there are more than 50 cocktails included in this book. When I’m not in the mood to make something up myself, this one is one of my favorites.
One reason is because making these cocktails would not require you to take out a 2nd mortgage on your home. I can’t tell you how many cocktails throw me for a loop with their long list of exotic ingredients.
Books for home users need to recognize that they are not going to have every elixir imaginable and yet still want to bring a creativity to their content…this one might be just that book if you’re in the mood to start thinking beyond a margarita mix!
While this cocktail may be categorized as ‘winter’ in the book, I found it perfect as we move closer to the first day of Spring, I am so ready. Daylight savings this weekend and Spring soon!
Don’t you love that Lemon Wheel that I brûléed for garnish? I should have done more of those…SO yummy! I’ve included directions in the recipe and you really need to try those yourself too.
So grab some lemons, limes, and oranges and celebrate with me. This time next year maybe I can craft this cocktail with a lemon from my new Meyer Lemon tree?

- Scoop the foam from the shaker over the top of the cocktail and garnish with the lemon wheel.
I like cocktails that are easy to make and this was right up my alley. So good; all of our friends loved it too!
Get Mr. Meyer in the ground! GREG
Actually I plan to grow it as a container plant Greg; way too cold here for it to survive our winter so I’ll get a big pot and she’ll be outside in the summer and come back in for fall/winter. Fingers crossed…but I know people who have done it successfully.
This looks like a perfect drink for brunch, or for the beginning of spring, or perhaps a summer night, or perhaps a Friday afternoon. You get the picture, right? But i am still not receiving this blog in my inbox. Hate to miss anything!
So I sent you a reply and it bounced. Yegads what is the problem?? Let’s chat tomorrow!
I should have planned my visit on a better day when i was not on medication. Sigh! I need some of YOUR Drinks 😀
I’m telling you next time you have to plan a GIRLS NITE OUT and spend the night. We can drink and not worry about you driving home; with or without meds! 🙂
Great cocktail and your brulee garnish is just gorgeous. I am a gin lover and citrus’ are still readily available here in Hong Kong, so bring on the weekend. BTW your meyer lemon tree is really nice and hoping by next year you can make some sweet meyer citrus fizzes too. Take care, BAM
The lemon wheel alone looks amazing!! So refreshing.
I decided to try eating it Tanya and am so glad I did; even the rind is softened and sweet/tangy. I want more of them! 🙂
I adore anything with citrus and have a special place in my heart for gin, so this has won me over immediately. Your bruleed lemon wheel looks perfect – it’s worth making the drink just for these!
I agree Amanda; I only wish I had made more. It’s a great, refreshing drink and the slice is like an tangy dessert! 🙂
I’m going to throw caution to the wind and try this beauty to celebrate Autumn. Sometimes it’s tough being upside down. 🙂
You do that girl; our weather is probably similar right now..go for it!
That bruleed lemon wheel is kinda interesting. Not sure I’d make it (my tolerance for fancy is limited) but it certainly looks nice. As does the entire drink! Love all the citrus in this. I think I’d probably use simple syrup rather than powdered sugar (because it blends so well) but that’s just me. Bring on spring and summer!
The lemon wheel is so good though John! The powdered sugar help to create that frothiness; you might foresake some without; considering the time required to shake it; there shouldn’t be an issue with it not mixing well.
That lemon tree is wonderful and I hope it brings you much fruit and happiness! There is just something special about growing plants and especially food at home. Even if just one lemon appears it will be worth it! I am so happy that you are going to enjoy spring in your new home, even if there are still workmen around and other homes still being built, your home is a great place for new beginnings this spring.
Ansh just came over for the day and we cooked Indian food; it was so much fun. The space is just perfect; exactly what I wanted. One day you will have to come and see for yourself!
We celebrated the first day of spring yesterday by taking a long walk in the warm sunshine. I wish I would have been closer to you I would have followed that up by having one of these gorgeous drinks. I’ll be glad when we can finally put those ice scrapers away.
I didn’t walk but I hung out on the back porch and had the doors and windows open. It was good for the soul wasn’t it?
Happy spring Barb! The weather took a nose dive here as soon as it was meant to be spring! Love your cheerful looking drink and the bruleed lemon wheel is a perfect finish, so creative!
Same to you Jayne! That lemon wheel is worth making all by itself!
